Positions

Netball has 7 named positions. Junior and small-sided formats use fewer of them, which is worth checking before you plan a rotation — the number on the court is what sets how playing time divides up.
  • Goal Shooter (GS) — Shoots for goal and works in the attacking circle. Allowed in the goal third only.
  • Goal Attack (GA) — Feeds shooters and can also shoot. Allowed in the goal and centre thirds.
  • Wing Attack (WA) — Feeds the circle but cannot enter it. Allowed in the goal and centre thirds.
  • Centre (C) — Links defence to attack; the only position allowed in all three thirds (not the goal circles).

See all 7 netball positions explained, including where each one is allowed to go and whether junior players should specialise.
